Max Liebermann, noted German Jewish artist, was suddenly taken ill last night and transferred to the State Hospital.
He is said to be suffering from a gastric trouble and is being treated by the noted surgeon, Professor Sauerbruch. His condition is improved today.
Professor Liebermann’s condition is causing some anxiety in view of his advanced age. He was eighty-five years old on July 20th. The occasion was the signal for widespread tributes to his contributions to art in the German press.
