Rabbi Stephen S. Wise,honorary president of the American Jewish Congress ,also sent his regrets for his inability to attend. “Please say to your honored guest for me how wonderful is the post of service to which he has been called.”Dr.Wise wrote.”and how much we believe he can and will do in the direction of improving relations between all the different groups in Palestine.The American Consul General in Jerusalem is in a unique position and I have the feeling that your honored guest will make the fullest and finest use of the opportunity which is to be his.”
