Mayor William 0’Dwyer of New York yesterday proclaimed May 4 the first anniversary of the proclamation of Israeli statehood as “Israel Independence Day” and called on citizens of this city to join him in “expressions of prayer, support and good wishes for the new state of Israel.” The American Zionist Emergency Council will hold two public functions on that day in New York to mark the Israeli anniversary.
