Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia will return to Brooklyn today when he will be guest speaker at the fourth annual luncheon to be given by the Women’s Division of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities at the St. George Hotel, beginning at 12:30 o’clock.
Approximately 1,000 outstanding figures in communal, philanthropic and social life in Brooklyn and Manhattan communities are expected to attend and proceeds will be added to the funds being raised by the division to meet its quota of $15,000 in the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities $500,000 twenty-fifth anniversary campaign which is now under way.
Presiding Justice Edward Lazansky of the Appellate Division; County Judge Algeron I. Nova, chairman of the Federation’s campaign; Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, executive director of the Federation, and Mrs. Benjamin Spitzer, member of the Women’s Division board, will be other speakers. Mrs. Herbert H. Lehman, wife of the Governor, and Mrs. LaGuardia, are among guests of honor.
MAGISTRATE BRILL PRESIDES
Mrs. Clarence G. Bachrach, president of the division, will open the proceedings and then turn the gavel over to Magistrate Jeanette G. Brill, chairman for the luncheon, who will preside thereafter. Rabbi Isaac Landman, of Temple Beth Elohin, will give the invocation, and Rabbi Harry Weiss, of Temple Shaari Zedek, is to offer the benediction.
