POLAND TO GET $80,000,000 LOAN IN WALL STREET
A loan of $80,000,000 to the Government of Poland, the largest foreign financing undertaking in Wall Street this year and the subject of negotiations between bankers and the Warsaw Government for several months, has been awarded to a syndicate made up of the Bankers Trust Company, the Chase Securities Corporation and Blair & Co., Inc., according to unofficial cable advices received in the financial district Wednesday. It is understood that the loan will be offered to the public in several different series, the individual amounts of which have not yet been determined. The bonds, according to the reports, will bear a 7 per cent coupon and will be offered at a price between 90 and 92. The loan is sought for the stabilization of Polish finances.
The messages received carried no details, and did not reveal what decision was reached concerning the question of supervision of Polish finances, which figured largely in the negotiations. Poland had rejected a suggestion that a place in the direction of Polish finances be given to a commissioner to be appointed by the League of Nations. Recently a proposal was put forward to have Benjamin Strong, Governor of the Federal Reserve Bank, participate in the supervision of Polish affairs.
