The establishment of a body representing Jews in Germany was suggested today by American High Commissioner John J. McCloy during an audience with representatives of the Jews in the United States zons. The Commissioner made his suggestion because of the imminent closing of the office of Jewish advisor to the High Commissioner.
It was also recommended that the body should consist of eight representatives of displaced and German Jews, with representatives of foreign Jewish organizations joining the body only as observers. Commissioner McCloy asked the Jews to fill in on his suggestions with a more detailed plan, including making provision for cooperation with Jewish bodies in the British zone.
Meanwhile, it was announced that Maj. Abraham Hyman, the current Jewish advisor to the Commissioner, is preparing his final report on the status of Jews in Germany.
