Hope that the next session of the League of Nations will consider a proposal to establish a central organization for all refugees, in order to provide them with passports and other consular protections, is expressed today in The London Times in a letter published by James G. MacDonald the League’s High Commissioner for Refugees.
This central body will operate directly under the supervision of the League of Nations, if Mr. MacDonald’s expectations materialize.
Mr. MacDonald also expresses his desire that the League of Nations will assist the Jewish and other philanthropic organizations engaged in solving the problem of the refugees from Germany. “There are now in France not less than 10,000 refugees whose life is difficult,” Mr. MacDonald states in his letter.
A session of the Governing Council of the League to deal with the refugee questions will take place in London this week.
