A special medallion honoring Simon Bar Kochba, leader of the Jewish revolt against the Romans in the year 132 of the Common Era, will be struck by the Israel Government, it was announced here today. It will mark the recent archaeological discovery in the Judean Desert of letters written by the historical figure.
The project was proposed by Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion who instructed the Coins and Medallions Division of the Prime Minister’s office to arrange for designing and striking the medallion.
