The League for Safeguarding the Fixity of the Sabbath against any possible encroachment by calendar reform has received assurances of support from two important sources, according to an announcement today from its headquarters in New York. Congressman Charles L. Underhill, of Massachusetts, chairman of the House Committee on Accounts, said that he had no “hesitation in declaring that I am absolutely opposed to any calendar change which would alter the fixity of the Sabbath.”
The American Medical Association, through its Board of Trustees, has also gone on record as opposing the proposed change in the calendar on the ground that “it would result in serious complications and would require many readjustments which, in its judgment, would not be outweighed by the benefits to ensue.”
