Israeli Premier Golda Meir’s three hour session with Acting Secretary of State Kenneth Rush “constituted another in a useful, positive discussion with distinguished visitors from the Middle East,” the State Department said today. Reading from a prepared statement. Department spokesman Charles Bray said:
“The conversations ranged across the board and focused on the Middle East situation in general and bilateral matters in particular. It was a useful exchange of views conducted in a spirit of friendship.” Asked whether U.S. economic assistance and continuation of military supplies to Israel were discussed bilaterally. Bray said these are “traditional subjects” with Israeli leaders. “There has been no fundamental diversions between the two governments for many, many months,” he said in response to a question.
