Meir Zorea, the hawkish ex-general who quit the Democratic Movement for Change (DMC) several weeks ago, resigned his Knesset seat Wednesday and said he was through with politics. His departure was significant because Zorea is one of the few persons to give up a Knesset seat after bolting the party on whose ticket he was elected. DMC leader Yigael Yadin hailed his move as a “courageous decision.”
