The entrance of unrepatriable displaced persons into the various member nations of the United Nations under U.N. passports and within quota limitations, was requested yesterday at the closing session of a three-day conference of the National Council of Women of the U.S. and of the National Council of Women of Canada. The conference was held at the Waldori Astoria Hotel here and was attended by 100 delegates.
The meeting also recommended that members of the organizations in this country, Canada, and 36 other nations where sister groups function, cooperate with public and private agencies working to prevent famine throughout the world. At a separate session of the American group, Mrs. Ambrose N. Diehl of San Francisco was elected president of the U.S. council, succeeding Mrs. Harold V. Milligan.
