A national convention of the Mapam collective settlement movement concluded today after turning down a demand for the collectives to grant individual settlers a “budget” for personal needs.
In confirming its long standing form of socialist ideology, the Kibbutz Haartzi convention declared that “every member gives all he can to the Kibbutz. which (in turn) gives every member according to his needs and according to the Kibbutz abilities”
Another resolution called on young people from kibbutzim to volunteer for an extra year’s service in one of the newer collective settlements after they complete their compulsory military service.
