A memorial stone will be unveiled near the entrance to 31 Connally Street in the Munich Olympic Village on Sunday in memory of the Israeli sportsmen assassinated during the Olympic Games. The Israeli team’s quarters were in this building. The marble stone, carved by a Munich firm, is inscribed in Hebrew and German with the names of the deceased. It has been donated by the Munich Jewish community.
The ceremony will be attended by Israel’s Ambassador in Bonn, Eliashiv Ben Horin; the head of the Jewish community in Munich, Dr. Hans Lamm; the Minister President of Bavaria, Alfons Goppel, the Mayor of Munich, Georg Kronawitter and many local dignitaries. Among the guests will be the mother of Moshe Weinberg, the Israeli wrestling coach. She lives in Munich.
