Amemorial stone in honor of Theodor Herzl was unveiled today in the Lower Austrian village of Edlach, where the father of political Zionism died on July 3, 1904.
A large delegation of leading Jews in this country attended the rites. Addresses on Dr. Herzl were delivered by Ambassador Michael Simon, Israel’s envoy to Austria; and Ernst Feldsberg, president of the Austrian Jewish Community. Dr. Herzl’s remains were reinterred in Israel in 1949, and now lie in a grave atop Mount Herzl, in Jerusalem.
