Anti-Semitic groups in Britain have not gained a wide following despite the activities of Sir Oswald Mosley and other fascist leaders, but British Jews are fearful that terrorist activities in Palestine may adversely affect community relations, Dr. Solomon A. Fineberg, director of the American Jewish Committee’s Community Service Department, said today following his return from London.
Dr. Fineberg, who spent three weeks in England conferring with British leaders on methods of combatting anti-Semitic activities there and in the United States, said that “the American situation is more volatile than the British, where customs and attitudes are more deeply rooted and less subject to rapid alteration. Despite the havoc of war, there has been little change in the temperament of the British people.”
