Menachem Beigin, former commander of the Irgun Zvai Leumi and head of the Freedom Party in Israel, arrived here last night by air and was greeted by a crowd of 30,000 well-wishers. Hundreds of Jews broke the police cordon and ran to welcome Mr. Beigin when his plane landed.
Among those who welcomed the Herut leader when he alighted were Dr. Emilio Siri, mayor of Buenos Aires, as well as representatives of the Socialist and Radical parties in this country. A $400-plate dinner in honor of Mr. Beigin is scheduled to be held here soon, with the expected proceeds of $100,000 earmarked for the aid of invalided Irgun fighters in Israel.
