Metullah in Upper Galilee was shelled for the second consecutive night last night but no casualties or damage was reported. A military spokesman said the first salvo of mortar shells exploded shortly after one a.m. and a second salvo landed about a half hour later. Israeli units returned the fire as the population took to bomb shelters. The all clear was sounded at two a.m. The shells came from Lebanese territory in the vicinity of a Lebanese Army post. A military spokesman today denied foreign press reports that Egyptian anti-aircraft gunners fired on Israeli reconnaissance planes flying over the west bank of the Suez Canal ten days ago. The spokesman said that no such incident occurred and that no Israeli planes were over the west bank of the Canal at the time.
