Adding his support to the drive for clean movies, Mgr. Michael J. Lavelle, vicar general of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, urges loyalty to the program of the League for Decency in an article in the August issue of the Cathedral Bulletin out yesterday.
European reaction to the American effort to purify the films may be seen in the various motion picture trade periodicals that arrive by mail. They report a spread of the Legion of Decency Campaign in European centers. Cinema, published in London, reports that the drive has spread from England to the Irish Free State. Archbishop Downey of Liverpool has announced a campaign for his diocese. It is thought that 1,000,000 Catholics will soon be organized in the fight against objectionable motion pictures in England alone.

Rev. J. Henry Carpenter, one of the Protestant representatives on the Inter-Faith committee, the local board for the drive consisting of representatives of the three major faiths of the city, will speak over radio station WMCA Thursday on “The Church and the Movies.”
