Prisoners in Michigan penal institutions were provided with Passover necessities through the medium of both relief agencies and private contributions.
The Detroit House of Shelter, in addition to feeding a large group of unemployed at its headquarters during the entire Passover week, provided Passover meals for Jewish prisoners in the House of Correction and Wayne County Jail.
At Jackson, Mich., Passover meals were supplied to Jewish prisoners through the efforts of Rabbi Jerome D. Folkman, with the cooperation of Dr. Albert M. Ewert, Episcoplian chaplain. In addition, gifts of Matzohs were supplied by the Home Relief Society and the Mo’os Chitim Committee of Detroit.
