Israeli singer Mike Brandt, who has been at the top of the French hit parade for the last five years, committed suicide last Friday by jumping from a sixth-floor balcony. He had tried to commit suicide in a similar manner last November and had spent several months in a Geneva clinic where he was treated for a nervous breakdown. The 29-year-old singer, whose family lives in Haifa, was known throughout Western Europe as one of the most popular singers and had sold more than five million records in France alone.
