A million-dollar plant for manufacturing plastic products, established by the Allied Moulding Corporation of New York, started production here today. The new plant, the biggest in Israel, will import its raw materials from abroad, but hopes soon to use materials created by the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot from soy beans.
Some 35 acres of land have been cleared at Migdal Bad in preparation for the construction of a plant to turn out concrete piping. When the plant, which will be financed to the extent of $6,000,000 by the Mekert Company, is in operation it will be turning out huge quantities of pipe for a project to divert water from the Yarkon River, near Tel Aviv, to Southern Palestine and the Negev desert.
