Yesterday’s conference between Jewish Deputies and Premier Alexander Vaida Voevod was followed up in Parliament today by Deputy Meyer Ebner, who submitted an interpellation to the Minister of Justice with regard to citizenship rights.
Deputy Ebner pointed out that more than 30,000 applications for citizenship have been filed with the Ministry of Justice, which, however, has not even attempted to take action.
He demanded the prolongation of the period permitted for the applications for citizenship and the acceleration of action on applications already submitted.
The Minister of Justice, replying, announced that he is introducing a bill in the present session of Parliament prolonging the period for citizenship applications until September 1, 1933. According to the present status, the period for applications for citizenship concluded in 1928.
The Justice Minister staed that the government is pledged to rush the bill through and sufficient support from the government party is assured for its adoption.
