The reasons for the alleged “failure” of the various minorities rights treaties, was discussed here today by Dr. Jacob Robinson, Director of the Institute for Jewish Affairs, addressing the Institute on World Organization.
Dr. Robinson stated that these treaties gave fair and adequate protection to the minimum rights of minorities, but their ratification was sabotaged in numerous cases. He also placed some responsibility for the failure of these treaties on the minorities themselves. The conclusions presented by Dr. Robinson were that: “By and large minorities treaties are a fair instrument for the preservation of peace, both external and internal, if carried out.”
The Institute on World Organization will in a four day session review the experiments in world organizations which followed upon the conclusion of the World War with a view to reaching conclusions as to the new reorganization of the world at the end of this war.
