A point-blank denial of foreign reports that the leaders of the Minsk Jewish community still under arrest will be tried, was made by the Soviet Foreign Office today to the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Foreign news despatches had reported that the trial would begin tomorrow.
Further investigation of the report that Jewish Communists of Bachmut had burned 70 Torah scrolls has brought no results, but the Jewish Telegraphic Agency’s correspondent is reliably informed that the atheists never burn Torah scrolls anywhere, because the scholls, together with rabbinical literature, are being utilized for export abroad.
