Charging that the British government, by the Passfield Declaration on policy in Palestine, had broken its pledges to Jewry and violated the Palestine Mandate, a telegram addressed to president Hoover by the Mizrachi convention which held its final session here, yesterday, asked that the United States government “take cognizance of this grieveous step taken by the British government.”

The convention also adopted a resolution urging the coming World Zionist Congress to elect a coalition executive, consisting of all parties, to direct the Zionist movement. Such an executive, the convention decided, “should stand for complete political Zionism” in the letter and spirit of the Basle Program.

Yesterday’s morning session was devoted to a discussion of the deplorable state of Hebrew education in America. It was decided that the Mizrachi should support fully the New York and Chicago yeshivas. The convention also decided to request the Jewish National Fund to give land in Palestine to those wanting to develop industrial projects and not restrict Fund activities to agriculture.
