Establishment of an Arab-dominated state in Palestine would be “an illegal misuse and usurpation of power which can never be recognized by the Jewish people, ” Rabbi Meir Berlin, of Palestine, honorary president of the World Mizrachi Organization, declared today at the opening session of the 22nd annual convention of the Mizrachi Organization of America.
“We declare without equivocation,” Rabbi Berlin said, “that the Mizrachi Organization, in union with all Judaism, and particularly with the right of Jewish settlement and will fight with every physical, spiritual and financial means to develop a Jewish national home in Palestine, with a Jewish majority, unlimited immigration in keeping with the land’s economic absorptive capacity and pr permission to acquire even more territory for agricultural and industrial expansion, in spite of every unrighteous law and unjust act from any quarter.”
Concluding its annual convention last night, the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada sent messages to Prime Minister Chamberlain, British Ambassador Sir Ronald Lindsay and President Roosevelt protesting against the proposed British policy. Tuesday evening the convention was interrupted to hold prayers.
