A budget of $1,5000,000 for the coming year was adopted here last night by 1,000 delegates from all sections of the country attending the 24th annual convention of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America. Half of this sum was earmarked for Youth Aliyah and child-restoration programs while the remaining $750,000 will be used for education and social service programs in Israel.
A resolution calling on President Truman and Secretary of State Dean Acheson to support Israel’s “just claim to Jerusalem, the ancient mother city” was adopted. Speakers at the convention, which closes today, included Rabbi Wolf Gold, member of the Jewish Agency executive in Jerusalem, Gen. John Hilldring, former Assistant Secretary of State, and Mendel N. Fisher, executive director of the Jewish National Fund. Mrs. Lionel Golub, of New York, was unanimously elected national president.
