The Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Montreal reached a total of $251,500 in its one-quarter million dollars campaign which was brought to a successful conclusion at a rally dinner at the Mount Royal Hotel on Sunday evening. At the dinner over $16,000 was raised.
One of the outstanding contributions was that from Elijah Silverstone, on behalf of himself, his brother and two sisters, who gave a capital endowment in memory of their mother, Mrs. Etta Silverstone, to the Federation of $25,000. The revenue is to be used annually by the Federation. This is the first time an endowment of Jewish charity has been made in Montreal.
