Jewish people live longer and have the lowest death rate of any in Montreal, according to statisties just released by Dr. Adelard Groulx, of the city health department.
The death rates per 1,000 of the population are: English, 11,8; French Canadians, 10,8; Jewish, 8.3. Jewish residents have also the lowest infant death rate in Montreal – 18.1 per thousand compared with 75,7 per thousand for the French Canadians. The Jewish community has the second highest birth rate, but stands at the bottom of the list in the number of marriages.
