A monument consecrating the last resting place of several bars of soap made from the remains of Jews cremated by the Nazis was dedicated at a public ceremony at Pine Hill Cemetery here yesterday. The bars of soap, brought to the United States after the war, were buried at the cemetery in 1947.
The dedicatory address was made by Justice Philip Halpern of the New York State Supreme Court, who was recently a member of the Genocide Conference of the United Nations, representing the United States. The Buffalo Board of Rabbis initiated plans for the monument and sponsored the dedication exercises.
