The foundation stone for a monument to the Jewish victims of the Nazis was laid on Sunday at the conclusion of memorial services in the Jewish cemetery in the Weisensee section of Berlin.
The services, which were held almost 10 years to the day that the Nuremberg Laws were proclaimed, were attended by all sections of the Jewish community, representatives of the United States, the Soviet Union, Britain and France, and of the various political parties.
After the head of the Jewish community, M. Nieland, welcomed the guests, a wreath commemcrating the 6,000,000 Jewish victims of the Nazis was laid upon the site of the projected monument. A letter from Lord Mayor Dr. Arthur Werner was read, and Dr. Leo Lowenstein, a former leader of the Central Committee of German Jews, who recently returned from Theresienstadt, spoke.
