A transport of 317 Jews arrived here today from Rumania by way of Turkey where they disembarked from the S. S. Maritza several days ago. A group of 80 Greek Jews also arrived here today after a long danger-fraught journey. The Rumanian Jews were given Palestine visas in Turkey, but the Jews from Greece received Palestine immigration certificates from the Jewish Agency after they reached Palestine.
A report on the rescue activities conducted by the Jewish Agency was given here today at a convention of the Mizrachi organization. The convention considered, among other things, a proposal to send a delegation of prominent rabbis to the United States and England to present the case of Jewish Palestine before non-Jewish clergymen and “persuade the religious world that Palestine belongs to the Jews by Divine promise which can be fulfilled at the present moment.”
