Forty-nine more books were published in Palestine in 1928 than in 1927, as shown by statistics issued by the Education Department of the government. It is interesting to note that of the 417 books published this year. 375 are in Hebrew, 18 in Arabic, 13 in English, 15 in Yiddish, 8 in German, 8 in Armenian, and one each in French, Italian, and Russian. There were 54 periodicals, an increase of 10 over the previous year, most of them being in Hebrew.
