In a Rosh Hashanah message sent to the Jewish Chronicle of London, the Chief Rabbi of Moscow, Dr. Shloimo Schlieffer, called on all Jews in the British Commonwealth to “raise their voices” in behalf of the cause of world peace.

The message declared that the “Moscow Jewish Religious Community, of which I am the head, as well as the Jewish religious communities of the great Soviet Union, are practicing their faith and carrying out their religious duties in conditions of complete religious freedom. All the Jewish religious communities of the Soviet Union have been taking part in the general struggle for peace and will continue unremittingly to play their part in the realization of the great peace ideal, as is the sacred obligation of our religion.”
