A joint world conference, of the Mizrachi and Hapoel Mizrachi organizations in session here, was informed today that Rabbi S. M. Schleifer, Chief Rabbi of Moscow, had cabled a response to an invitation to attend the conference in Israel’s capital.
The assemblage stood while the Moscow rabbi’s message was read. It stated: “Your cable reached me but I regret I am unable to participate in this holy conference. My health does not permit me to take a long trip during the summer. My religious greetings to those who study the Torah and adhere to its tenets.” Among those present who heard the message read was Rabbi Reines, 90-year-old father-in-law of Rabbi Schleifer.
