Chief Rabbi J, L. Levin of Moscow and Chief Rabbi Moshe Rosen of Bucharest have cabled their regrets at being unable to attend the forthcoming opening of the new Supreme Religious Center in Jerusalem which will house the offices of the Chief Rabbinate and other religious functionaries, it was announced today.
The formal inauguration ceremonies will be held here May 8, on Lag Bomer, in the presence of Israel President Itzhak Ben Zvi, both Israeli Chief Rabbis and 12 Chief Rabbis from Jewish communities across the world. Among the guests of honor will be British philanthropist Isaac Wolfson. who contributed two-thirds of the $3, 000, 000 cost of the carter.
One of the most imposing structures in this city, the new religious center is set in a park and has its own ampitheatre for outdoor events. It will include, beside the offices of the rabbinate scattered throughout the city, a central religious library and a museum of sacred objects.
