Thousands of Jews packed Moscow’s Grand Choral Synagogue for Yom Kippur services yesterday, with an overflow of 2,000 worshipers who could not get into the synagogue blocking traffic in the street in front of the house of worship, it was reported here today from the Soviet capital.
The report said that crowds also jammed the city’s two other synagogues, as Moscow’s Jews marked the conclusion of the High Holy Days.
