The new Soviet Ambassador to Israel will be Michael F. Bodorov, it was revealed here today. Foreign Ministry officials are familiar with Mr. Bodorov because, as Soviet Ambassador to Bulgaria, he negotiated with Israeli officials for the resumption of Israel-Soviet diplomatic relations in 1953.
Observers here are inclined to view Mr. Bodorov’s appointment as a friendly gesture on Moscow’s part and are inclined to speculate over the possibilities that his coming will mark the opening of a more cordial phase in Israel-USSR relations.
