Two Israelis, whose names are given as Dr. Klinger and Ruth Lubich, express their “gratitude to the Supreme Soviet” of the U.S.S. R. for “the historic unilateral decision to put an end to nuclear weapons tests in the Soviet Union, ” according to a letter in a leading Soviet magazine distributed here today by the Russian delegation to the United Nations. The two signers are Identified as president and secretary, respectively, of an Israeli organization whose title is not given in the letter.
The letter appeared in “Soviet Woman,” a monthly magazine published in Moscow in Russian, English and seven other languages. The Supreme Soviet is congratulated, in the letter, “on behalf of thousands of Israeli women and children. ” According to the letter, “our organization takes an active part in the struggle against the testing and use of nuclear weapons. ” The organization is reported by the writers to have “collected nearly 20, 000 signatures to a petition to the Israeli parliament, urging it to support the demand of the peace-loving forces that nuclear weapon tests be stopped at once. “
