Moses Montefiore Schwarz, 44, well-known in this city as the founder of the Mobile Association for the Blind, and who was active in other civic work, died following a brief serious illness caused by Bright’s disease.
Moses Schwarz was born in Alabama. After receiving his education he entered business in Mobile in 1903, but two years later was afflicted with blindness, which was thought to be the final result of an accident which occurred during childhood. The formation of the Mobile Institute for the Blind was the direct result of his spirit and energy. Mr. Schwarz had a very large circle of friends who frequently gathered with him at his Spring Hill home, where topics and problems of the day were discussed.
