A number of Moslem officials attended a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the Jewish Cultural Association of Tetuan, capital of North Morocco, it was reported here today.
After Morocco achieved independence, it was divided into two zones. Tetuan, which has some 2,500 Jews, became the capital of Spanish Morocco. At that time there were some 7,000 Jews in Tetuan.
Among the Moslem leaders who attended the anniversary event were the Iraqi Ambassador to Morocco, M. de Nouna; M. Soussi, the secretary general of the Governorate of the Province; and Izquierdo Yanes, the Spanish Consul General in Tetuan. The director of Tangeir Radio, also a Moslem, accepted an invitation to participate in a symposium on the problems of birth control organized in Tangier by the Alliance Israelite.
