An area of 100,000 dunams in Transjordania was set aside for the settlement there of Moslem refugees from Morocco. The land is located between Amman and Deraa.
Colonization work is to be started soon, as Emir Abdullah, the ruler of the territory, which is under the jurisdiction of the Palestine Mandate, has granted the settlers their deeds and has freed them from taxation for the first three years. They were also promised military protection agains the attacks of the Bedouins, and water supply.
This plan dates back to the conquest of Tripolitania by Italy, at which time the Sultan of Turkey, Abdul Hamid, promised the refugees the 100,000 dunams for colonization purposes.
