A sharp disagreement between the Arab Executive and the Moslem Supreme Council is revealed today by the “Al Jamia,” organ of the Moslem Supreme Council. The paper attacks the Arab Executive for its failure to take action regarding the death sentence of the three Arabs for the murder of the Jewish mechanic, Isaac Mamaan at Safed; its complacence in the face of the Nablus school incident, when Arab pupils in the government school were allaged to have been beaten by the District School Superintendent; its delay in taking decisive steps regarding the Wailing Wall regulations. The principal accusation it levels at the Arab Executive is that it has not cabled the British Colonial Office, demanding that Sir John Chancellor be recalled as High Commissioner of Palestine, although a resolution to that effect was adopted ten days ago.

Officers of the Arab Executive have no right to cancel decisions made by the entire body, the paper declares, (Continued on Page 4)

warning the Executive to “discontinue its tactics of high diplomacy and its friendly relations with the Palestine government.”

The article makes public, what has been bruited for some time, that many members of the Arab Executive are inclined to moderation, only the Mufti’s party clinging to extremist demands.

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency understands that since the occurrence of the riots, many former extremists would, if they dared, openly disavow the Grand Mufti, whose powers derive largely from the recognition the government accords him.

Ground breaking ceremonies for construction of the new synagogue for Congregation Avavath Ochin, Portland, Oregon, were held Sunday afternoon. Ben Selling turned the first spadeful of sod.

The building will be of brick construction and Romanesque design.

The building committee is headed by I. Hasson, president of the congregation.

The Chesed Shel Eneu Congregation of St. Paul. Minn., will build a new synagogue.

Announcement of purchase of a site was made by Arthur Mushkatin, secretary.
