“Mosley made an ass of himself,” bluntly declared Field Marshall Viscount Allenby when interviewed here before his departure for England.
“I do not think Fascism is needed in Britain, nor in Canada, nor in the United States,” he added.
Pressed for a statement on Palestine, which he helped to liberate during the war, he said:
“I had no dreams, no aspirations, no hopes in Palestine. My duty there was to beat the common enemy. He happened to be the Turk. I beat him and that was all the aspiration I had.”
