A report that Sir Oswald Mosley has organized a school in Wiltshire for training district leaders in his new fascist Union movement was published today in the Sunday Pictorial. The paper describes the district leaders as “a not very handsome-looking bunch” who are being trained “in political thought, oratory and discipline.”
While the paper takes a light view of the new Mosley party and asserts that the British people never regarded Mosley as anything but a political entertainer, Reynolds News, under a headline reading “Stop Him Now,” warns that disorder is certain if Mosley is allowed to hold meetings since his advocacy of violence will inevitably provoke “violent reactions.” The paper urges the government to “drive fascism underground where it belongs–down in the sewers.”
