Most Israelis are proud of their country’s assistance to the developing world. Seventy-five percent expressed pride when hearing of how Israel helps the needy overseas, according to a poll by Tel Aviv University’s Hartog School of Government. Among subgroups, 70 percent of Arab Israelis expressed pride in Israel, a figure the pollsters said was “surprising” in its strength. They suggested it was an area of possible Jewish-Arab cooperation in the civil sector. Among Orthodox Jews, 45 percent said Israel should provide assistance overseas, according to the poll. The university published the poll, which was conducted in January, on Tuesday, ahead of its March 30-31 international conference on humanitarian aid. The poll of 535 respondents had a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.
