Movement for an ‘undivided Israel’ Formed by Groups of Well-known Israelis

A group of well-known Israelis announced here today the formation of a “Movement for Undivided Israel,” to oppose return by the Government of any areas now occupied by Israel as a result of the Six-Day War. The group includes prominent Israeli writers, poets, playwrights, persons formerly active in Israel’s security forces and others in politics.

Part of the new movement’s concrete program proposed the development of more settlements in the Etzion area, between Bethlehem and Hebron, on the west bank of the Jordan River. Four kibbutzim existed in that area prior to the Jordanian occupation, and the movement said that members of religious kibbutzim as well as of Nahal, the parliamentary agricultural organization, are ready to start settlements in the area.

Among the members of the new movement are Uri Zvi Greenberg, a well-known right-wing poet; Nathan Alterman, a left-wing writer; Itzhak Tobenkin, formerly a unit commander in Palmach, the resistance group that fought against the British Mandatory administration in Palestine before the rebirth of Israel; and Dan Tulkowski, former Israeli air force commander.
