Distinguished parliamentarians and Jewish leaders paid tribute here last night to the late Sydney Silverman, Laborite MP, at a memorial meeting arranged by the British Section of the World Jewish Congress. Mr. Silverman was eulogized by Mrs. Barbara Castle, first secretary of state, and by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress. Mrs. Castle lauded the late MP for his achievements on behalf of his people and the House of Commons. Dr. Goldmann said Mr. Silverman was "a great human being because he loved people and a great Jew because he loved Jews."
