Mrs. Ernest G. Wadel, 47, of Dallas, Tex., former chairman of the National Women’s Division of the United Jewish Appeal, was killed this morning when a plane on which she was travelling crashed at Love Field in Dallas.
Mrs. Wadel was returning to her home in Dallas from the national conference of the United Jewish Appeal, which was held during this past week-end in Atlantic City, where a special dinner was held in her honor on the occasion of her retirement from office as National Women’s Division chairman.
At a special ceremony at the Atlantic City conference, Mrs. Wadel had received from Henry Morgenthau, Jr., general chairman of the U.J.A., a plaque paying tribute to her two years of service as chairman of the Women’s Division, during which time American women contributed $32,000,000 to the Appeal. Mr. Morgenthau today issued a statement in behalf of the national officers of the U.J.A., in which he paid tribute to Mrs. Wadel’s services to the organization.
